Hi, Babe!

My Ipad was freezing up and I was afraid I was going to lose the whole letter with pictures and all, cause it's happened before...
So this is a first - and I am now sitting by the back door with the door open, the new little magic mesh screen blowing in a soft breeze as I type your letter on my laptop.  The birds are chirping and singing, the horses are still grazing in the back field and Kait is stil on the bathroom floor doing her toenails while chatting on the phone with Taylor and Rick.

Brother Jordan especially wanted me to tell you hi, from him and he sends his apologies that he hasn't had time to write.  He said its farmer season and he's been busy getting animals reared and crops in the ground and hasn't had much time on the computer.

Posted our Skype pic of you on FB and these were the comments:

Back to  Acher Rd life - I scrubbed the pollen and winter dirt and mold off the deck for our enjoyment - I'll send a deck pic in the next letter.  I only have one geranium out there now, but the umbrella is up!

When we spoke with Kristen last night, she said she had been emailing you at k.sherksnas@myldsmail.net, so.... I gave her the correct address and she said that she would resend her letters, and she said, be prepared for a novel!

Dad is getting ready to head out to Chicago and we'll see him at the end of the week, then next week he will head to Brazil.  He's getting lots of traveling in so he can attend all the upcoming Wedding festivities...

I noticed you had short sleeves on yesterday - was it warm?   The Midwest  - Montana, Dakotas, Wyomng - had lots of snow over the weekend!  hope you guys steer clear of that for a while!

Church was very nice yesterday - Brian Abbate and Sister Abbate spoke and they were very funny, but terrific talks!

I have to get together with Sister O'Connor this week soon and get the Super Saturday finalized and under way for this upcoming Saturday.  We are having a 'Black and White" Dance for the youth and the activity will be the Jimmy Fallon game of Box of Lies - but I think we will re-name it "I Doubt That!".   The kids have to dress in black and white, decorations will be black and white and all the snacks and treats will be black and white.  Should be a good time.

Because I am  writing later again, I am so afraid I am going to miss you!   I keep checking all the "dings" that are coming through on the ipad! So I think I will send this too, then pick up again, just so I don't miss you again!

    Love, your Momma!

    April 27, 2015

    Hi Mom and Dad!!

I love the pictures that you posted.  I am so happy to see that everyone is doing well even if it was a chilly week!  I love Will and Drew's engagement pictures and I couldn't read the little blurb about them but I'm guessing it was great!  :)  This week was the last week of transfers where everyone gets moved around or stays!  I am getting to stay in PA this next transfer which I am thankful for because it really is such a blessing to know and get to know these people who have been through so much and are still so loving and caring.  I hope that I can show my love and Heavenly Father's love for them each day.  I read a talk this week that Elder Holland gave at the MTC and it's a typed up one from someone who recorded it and did their best to type and I think they did a pretty great job. Also dad I may or may not answer those questions :P  We will have to see!

It was about being on missions and the miracles that it brings to your life and the changes if makes to your heart.  It was about trusting fully in God and realizing that as we put this tiny bit of our life in the Lord's hands completely and give these months to Him, we are helping with one leg of this race that is being run by all the apostles and all the presidents of the church before us.  I feel especially honored to run this race, even if it is for a short leg, for the prize is that of the souls of my brothers and sisters.  It is truly for the children of God.  That means this race and this war against evil is a battle we are either all in or not on the Lord's side.  I know that we can each do more and sometimes we're too tired or too weak or too sad but we have to remember that our strength to keep enduring and living and sharing the gospel is blessed by all the powers of Heaven.  In times of hardship is when we become acquainted with God and through those hard times we can look to that source of strength that will always be with us if we do all we can to live those things we know and help uplift those people and places that God's trusted us with and given us stewardship over by being saints that can reach out to His children.

Well that was not the turn I thought this email would take but I am always so proud of you both as my parents in living the gospel in all aspects of your lives and trying to magnify your calling and do those things that we promise to do in Mosiah 18 as we enter in the covenants of baptism.  I love you both so much and will continue to pray for the Sakowski's and the Adamo's.  A very dear friend I met just 6 weeks ago is finished with his mission and leaves today so I'm pretty sad and I asked if losing friends every 6 weeks is always this hard and Sister Wray said yeah it is :(  His brother is currently serving is the Pittsburg mission though so if you get an Elder Miller you need to scoop him right up and take some pictures and tag him on facebook!  I love you Mom.  I love you Dad <3 I miss you both so much and can't wait to Skype on Mother's Day!!! Also that scripture is so easy peasy Dad!!! It's of course Alma 43:2!! I love you all heaps and hug and cuddle the animals for me!! :)

    Love,
    Sister Kerry Anne Sherksnas

With Love From Prince Albert! April 20, 2015

    Hi Mom and Dad!!

So first Dad I want you to know I think it's better for me to just test your scripture knowledge because obviously I'm on a mission and know them much better :P  Also me and my companion had such a wonderful miracle yesterday!!! We met with a couple we contacted on the street and we could just feel their love and their hearts opening and half way through the lesson the wife said "When you come back you can talk about. . . " and Sister Wray and I were like "OH MY GOSHHH" she set the next appointment, not us!  It was beautiful! Also We talk their daughters the song I am a child of God and they loved it and the dad Gary loved it and told us about a few years in the 80s he lived with a member family and they put the love of God and for Christ back in his heart and he was so happy to know that we would be coming back to teach them and their family!!

Then we found a leader of a youth home who we got to invite to sports night on tuesday (it's something pretty common out here as just a weekly fellowship activity) so that invitation was to about 15-20 kids!)  And we're hoping they come!

Wow right?!?! Also tell my leetle bubbi she looks beautiful in that picture! I usually print them out and put them on my wall :)  How was your week?? Also I just heard that quote from president Hinckley in the training I have to do each week but we are working on getting members motivated and involved in trying to help themselves and us.  It's a bit tougher, Prince Albert is like a hard shell candy with a gooey inside, so far we have found out about the crunchy outer shell and now we're wondering when we will hit the gooey lovey inside, we have with some but others are more reserved.

I love you and love being able to serve our Savior Jesus Christ.  I am so thankful that I get to come to Him for strength in my weakness.  In that talk, President Hinckley says trust them because the Lord had to trust us to call us and how hard that must be for Him!  And that's how I feel, that Heavenly Father really has put such a trust in me and all of us to help care for and love those around us.  As long as we're doing what we need to do to be obedient and feel the spirit we can get that guidance in our lives and be able to better love those around us.  :)  I love you heaps Mom and Dad!! I  am so excited to skype you soon! and I miss you always :)

    Love,
    Sister Kerry Anne Sherksnas

Ps- your scripture this week is "And the day comes, saith the Lord, when I shall send forth a famine, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst of water, but of hearing the word of the Lord"
also if I've already sent that one and it's a repeat " I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom, that ye may learn when ye are in the service of your fellow being, ye are only in the service of your God."

Also please tell the ward I am doing great, I love them and miss them and tell Bishop I especially miss him too! :)

    Sister Sherksnas Says, Happy Easter!

                                                            APRIL 6. 2015

    Hi Mom and Dad!

This week was really good, Dad I understand about getting stood up because that happens to us at least once a day!  We get stood up all the time, it's fantastic! ( in nacho libre voice)  also with conference I understand you wanting to beat those people up at conference but I thought it was funny they only disagreed with the first two and had no problems with the new area of the 70 people called under the prophet and apostles, if they are gonna go that route, i want 100% commitment :P  They were dumb.  We went to go sing to one of the sisters who is in a nursing home and one of the elders made a really funny unfortunate mistake while singing He is Risen and he said "Breaking o're the purple east, symbol of our Sister feast!" hahah and after that I couldn't sing for a solid 5 minutes because I was laughing so hard!

Conference was wonderful, the talks were all wonderful and I especially enjoyed Elder Holland's talk yesterday about the Grace of Christ and then the two after about the eternal perspective.  I pray for you guys all the time and hope that you are doing great.  I think it's great you're trying to go out with the missionaries too! I have been feeling really extra anxious about trying to share the gospel with all of these people.  I think that with a lot of people especially in Prince Albert that they don't have hope for better things.  All they need to know is that Heavenly Father loves them and that Jesus Christ loves them and they want them to have so much more happiness and so many more blessings than they can imagine right now.  I will keep inviting and striving to reach out in love and service.  They really are great people, they just need a little push to see that in themselves.  Also dad the scripture this week is from a good one but I don't have time to reply right now to either of them!  I love you and have one for you!  "Look unto me in every thought, doubt not, fear not."  I love you so much and miss you both! Send more pictures :)

    Love,
    Sister Kerry Anne Sherksnas

ps-do you have a good pierogie dough recipe? A woman in our ward made me homemade pierogies, kielbasa, homemade mac and cheese and green beans, wax beans and carrot blend of veggies and it was just like being home except no nutroll or coconut custard pie!

March 17 - Can I Call You From The Airport?

    Hi, Babe!

Are you a Winnipeg resident yet?  If not, when do you go?

How was the home stretch of that MTC?  Did you keep the same roommate?

Just took your healthy meal options off the fridge...and will wait for you to post new ones!

Will finally got down on one knee and popped the age-old question to his sweetheart.  And she said yes.  😉. They will be a busy couple through August.  They've decided to postpone the honeymoon until after the Christmas holidays.  Drew's parents are coming along with the idea that Drew would rather get married and get moving along with her life rather than serve a mission, so she's got a little bit of support coming from their end.  Haven't seen any pictures yet.  Will and another couple they went with took some pics, but nothing sent mine and Dad's way yet.  Will and Drew have been so excited that they've called yesterday and today to start talking about logistics and planning.

We are hosting the Elders tonight for dinner.  Aunt Cindi, Warren, Catherine Chartrand and the girls will join us.  Have a pork roast in now and Dad just ran for the apple pie and ice cream at Weis.  Also had breakfast with Sis. Forsberg and Sis. Chartrand this morning for a VT visit.  Good thing they like eggs cause that's all I fix! I mean along with the Schwanns sausage, Thomas ' english muffins and Entenmanns pecan Danish...

Yesterday was another busy Sunday with Ward Conference for Sunbury.  Sis.Christensen was sick, so it was just me, Sis. O'Connor and Sis Abbate.  Dad helped me bake some yummy cupcakes for the sweet YW there.  We dropped off a lasagne and cupcakes to Sis Christensens house, then headed home and veged.

Dad checked Winnipeg weather first thing this morning and it was still warmer than NEPA.  Hope you're greeted with some nice weather, honey!

Well, drop us a line.  Have you heard from other peeps?  Miss you and love you very much!

    Love, Mom. ❤️

    Still at MTC -

Love you mom!!! I can call from the airport tomorrow around 7 or 8 your time I think :) I hope you and dad and Kate can talk, will and kristen are on the &$*% list because they haven't written me anything! Well that's how it goes I guess.   I'm excited for Will and Drew and hope that they are making all these decisions prayerfully.  I love you and miss you and can't wait to call you tomorrow!!! :D I'll talk to you soon and tell you everything I'm running out of time to type, also that's so exciting for Pheobe!!!! What mission is she going to?!?! I lvoe you and and the animals <3

To Bill:  Thank you babe. Love you and have a great day.

    Mar 11, 2015,  :

    Hi, Mom and Husband!

From Bill:  Kerry asked me to FW this and here is the scripture which she references in her letter, which follows:

    D&C 100:
Revelation given to Joseph Smith the Prophet and Sidney Rigdon, at Perrysburg, New York, October 12, 1833. The two brethren, having been absent from their families for several days, felt some concern about them.

1–4, Joseph and Sidney to preach the gospel for the salvation of souls; 5–8, It will be given them in the very hour what they should say; 9–12, Sidney is to be a spokesman and Joseph is to be a revelator and mighty in testimony; 13–17, The Lord will raise up a pure people, and the obedient will be saved.

1 Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you, my friends Sidney and Joseph, your families are well; they are in mine hands, and I will do with them as seemeth me good; for in me there is all power.

2 Therefore, follow me, and listen to the counsel which I shall give unto you.

3 Behold, and lo, I have much people in this place, in the regions round about; and an effectual door shall be opened in the regions round about in this eastern land.

4 Therefore, I, the Lord, have suffered you to come unto this place; for thus it was expedient in me for the salvation of souls.

    5 Therefore, verily I say unto you, lift up your voices unto this people; speak the thoughts that I shall put into your hearts, and you shall not be confounded before men;

6 For it shall be given you in the very hour, yea, in the very moment, what ye shall say.

7 But a commandment I give unto you, that ye shall declare whatsoever thing ye declare in my name, in solemnity of heart, in the spirit of meekness, in all things.

8 And I give unto you this promise, that inasmuch as ye do this the Holy Ghost shall be shed forth in bearing record unto all things whatsoever ye shall say.

9 And it is expedient in me that you, my servant Sidney, should be a spokesman unto this people; yea, verily, I will ordain you unto this calling, even to be a spokesman unto my servant Joseph.

10 And I will give unto him power to be mighty in testimony.

11 And I will give unto thee power to be mighty in expounding all scriptures, that thou mayest be a spokesman unto him, and he shall be a revelator unto thee, that thou mayest know the certainty of all things pertaining to the things of my kingdom on the earth.

12 Therefore, continue your journey and let your hearts rejoice; for behold, and lo, I am with you even unto the end.

13 And now I give unto you a word concerning Zion. Zion shall be redeemed, although she is chastened for a little season.

14 Thy brethren, my servants Orson Hyde and John Gould, are in my hands; and inasmuch as they keep my commandments they shall be saved.

15 Therefore, let your hearts be comforted; for all things shall work together for good to them that walk uprightly, and to the sanctification of the church.

    16 For I will raise up unto myself a pure people, that will serve me in righteousness;

17 And all that call upon the name of the Lord, and keep his commandments, shall be saved. Even so. Amen.
    D&C 100:1-17

On Mon, Mar 9, 2015, D. Sherksnas wrote:

    Hi, Babe!
You are nearly done with week #1 at the MTC.  How goes it so far?  Ready to fly the coop and head up to Winnipeg?
Bishop Sanford said in church yesterday that saying goodbye to you was as hard as saying goodbye to his sons. He says he's really going to miss you and you're going to be a great missionary.  Remember Elder Bullock?  He popped into church yesterday as he took some time off to visit out east.  He was staying with the Harts.  He looked good - I'll attach his pic.  👍
Dad took off for Switzerland on Saturday, he'll be back Friday.  We turned the clocks ahead, (as did you I guess), and I picked up Aunt Cindy and off to church we went yesterday. Brother Edwards gave a really nice talk on standing true to our Christian convictions in the face of opposition that may be put in our path. The young women had a really nice lesson also on the peace we feel although the tempest may rage. What kinds of lessons are you receiving this week? Have you had the chance to attend the temple again?
We have broken the sub-zero temps, but still lots of snow on the ground, so with 40-50 degrees it's starting to melt big-time and get nasty muddy and wet, although the sun is shining brightly.  Wally and Gatz would like to stay out and play but it's too wet and muddy.  So they're just following the sunny rooms and spots in the house to nap in.

How is your room-mate?  Where is she from?  Do you get to keep the same room-mate during the whole time there?  Have you run into anyone that you know?
I had a good week at work.  Did our taxes - never fun unless a refund is coming back, but it looks like that is not in the cards this year.  😢. Just chilling today and will eventually head in to the kitchen to catch up on some Stake YW business that needs tending-to.  Do you have a P-day at the MTC?  What day are you allowed to read your emails?  Do you have an address at the MTC?

I heard back from Annie with some great news after wishing her a Happy Birthday yesterday.  She and husband are awaiting baby #1!  This was her note:
"You and daddy gonna become grammy and grandpop soon 😊"
    Very, very excited for her.

Well, honey, wondering when you will get to read this... And missing you in the meantime.  Love you, babe!  XoxoXO. 😘

OKAY  - The email just did something weird and hopefully sent you the first part of the email I started! I miss and love you! My companion is fantastic! She's from Alberta Canada and so she's going west to middle!  She's so sweet and funny! Her name is Sister Neitz.  So a woman we met yesterday said we've got the hard Lithuanian and German names covered haha.  So the MTC sucks and is awesome at the same time! I have learned a lot and am spiritually stretched ALL THE GOSH DARN DAY, but also having to say more prayers and truly need reliance on the Lord is a good thing! I would llove Anh's email or her address to send her a letter or email! I also get to go to the temple today after this so i'll let you know how it goes! It's exciting! Also Dad!!! Bring back chocolate!! <3 I cannot wait to get out of the MTC because it is like spiritual prison!! How are you doing? do you spend a lot of time knitting now?? I hope that you know I miss and love you and Heavenly Father knows my heart and led me to D&C 100 and it basically says that He will take care of all of you while i'm away.  That as I try my best to focus and stay awake, that He will make sure I can be assured you're all taken care of! <3 I miss and love you and send you all my hugs and kees kees keeses!!! xoxoxoxoxoxo

    Love,
    Sister Kerry Anne Sherksnas

Also I dont have dad's email could you please send this one to Him also and I don't have grammy's email so please send this to her and attach the scripture for her too! <3
